Patrick Crayton traded to San Diego

The Cowboys have traded wide receiver Patrick Crayton to San Diego, according to Crayton's agent, Fred Lyles.
The Cowboys will receive the Chargers' seventh round pick in return and it clears the wide receiver logjam. It also gives Crayton a chance to catch on with an AFC contender.

Saints reportedly release tailback Ladell Betts

Veteran tailback Ladell Betts has been released by the New Orleans Saints, his agent Tony Agnone confirmed. Betts played well in the preseason finale at Tennessee on Thursday night, but apparently the Saints didn't feel like he was far enough along in his recovery from knee surgery.

Roethlisberger's suspension reduced to 4 games

As had been expected, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell officially notified Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger this morning that his suspension has been reduced from six games to four to start the regular season. Roethlisbeger will be eligible to return to play Oct. 17 against Cleveland at Heinz Field.
