Patriots' Laurence Maroney: 'This is the year'
5/7/2009 9:00:00 AM

Knowing patience must be running thin for him to prove what he can do on a more consistent basis, Maroney agrees he is facing a make-or-break situation. "I feel like this has to be my year. There's no other way around it," he said. "I just feel like I have to be better this year. ... I was a first-rounder with a lot of expectations. I know how good I can be. I know my worth to the team. ... This is the year I really have to prove to the fans, to the coaches, to the world I can be this running back, I can be the guy for (Bill) Belichick and the Patriots." Maroney has been buoyed by Belichick's public support of him, though the signing of free agent running back Fred Taylor would seem to suggest that the coach harbors at least some doubts.  Source: "bostonherald.com"

Maroney not sure why he wasn't utilized
11/29/2007 9:38:00 AM

Laurence Maroney isn't sure why he didn't play during the first half of the Patriots' 31-28 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday night. "I don't ask. They don't tell," said Maroney yesterday. The second-year running back described this season as a "roller coaster," and the nadir of the ride may have been Sunday, when Maroney wasn't on the field for a single play in the first half, as the Patriots called 28 pass plays and just one designed run.  Source: boston.com

Maroney's not on the Pats injury report
10/26/2007 8:19:00 PM

For the first time in forever, Laurence Maroney does not appear on the Pats injury report. Maroney should play a bigger roll this week, although he faces a stout Washington defense that's currently ranked 5th defending the run. In the 6 games the Redskins have played this year they have allowed an average of 80.7 rushing yards per game and have surrendered only 3 rushing TDs. Look for Maroney to receive a heavier workload, but Washingtons a little too stingy to allow Maroney his break out game.
